Chicken Shawarma


Shawarma is a Middle-Eastern sandwich like wrap that has chicken, beef or lamb mixed with tahini paste ,Arabic garlic paste (toum), veggies and pickles !


Ingredients :

For the marinade:
1 chicken breast cut into very small pcs
Selection brand shawarma marinade sauce
1 tsp garlic paste
Half tsp red chilli powder
Half tsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
1 tbsp olive oil

Method :
To prepare the chicken , mix all the above ingredients really well . The marinade sauce should be added until it evenly coats the chicken pcs . Add the rest of the ingredients , salt to taste . Marinate for 2-24 hours in the refrigerator.
Now heat a pan and simply add the marinade and cook until the chicken is done and the water is absorbed . The oil will start to separate once it is done . Keep this aside .

Ingredients for the filling :
2 medium sized pita breads
Fresh tahini (sesame seed paste) from the grocery store
Arabic pickled cucumbers
1 tomato
4-6 slices of onions
1 tsp Arabic garlic paste (Toum in Arabic)
Half a tsp sumac powder
Finely chopped lettuce
Finely chopped cilantro
The prepared chicken

Now grill the pita breads until they are nicely warm , lay them on a plate . Spread the tahini , garlic paste (toum) , sprinkle lettuce, tomatoes , pickled cucumbers, onions as much as you want and the prepared chicken. Finally sprinkle a pinch of sumac powder . Roll it well into a wrap , heat if needed for a few seconds in the microwave. Enjoy eating it :)
